In this article is the video from Emperor Camp made on December 8, 2025. I have wanted to visit this place for years, and I was probably lucky enough to admire it in its splendor. But I really think it is beautiful even without snow. In fact I felt like walking there, in these conditions I limited myself to two steps and a hot chocolate with ball in the hut.

Other small stops during the weekend in and around L’ Aquila

Taking advantage of both the outward and return journeys, I took in the small villages, as well as wandering around L’ Aquila and enjoying spectacular views.

These are the small villages in which I made more or less long stops:

  • Civitella del Tronto, with its fortress
  • Campli and the holy staircase
  • Santo Stefano di Sessanio, with several underpasses
  • Calascio, which you cross to get to the fortress
  • Atri, with the splendid belvedere

The video from Campo Imperatore

From what was once the Campo Imperatore Hotel, currently abandoned, Benito Mussolini had escaped during World War II, thanks to an intervention by German paratroopers sent by his friend Adolf Hitler.

In my plans was to go on a Sunday afternoon after a sumptuous lunch at a trattoria near the cable car; already with the appetizer I was full. I staggered to the ticket office and discovered that it was closed for construction.

No big deal, in fact the opening was scheduled for the next day, my luck was still with me. It would have been a hoax to be there, right in the snow and not be able to go up there. In fact in winter access with cars is not possible.

Not only videos from Campo Imperatore but also from Atri

Following still the Gran Sasso, but not only. This is the splendid panorama that can be admired from Atri’s belvedere: the snow-capped Apennines, the gullies of Atri, and finally the Adriatic Sea.
