Traveling to Africa is an experience that even many hardened travelers, do not make, and that is a shame. This is the fifth article in the live series from Senegal. I witnessed my adventure by making short videos and reporting updates. I traveled solo and completely independently, and moved around by public transportation.

Last almost live video

This is the itinerary I made, with the main stops:

  • Dakar
  • Saint-Luis
  • Saly

The map on mymaps.

And here is the fifth video from my you tube channel. It’s a glimpse of the fish market in Saint Luis, when the boats arrive and some go straight to the water to buy it.

Traveling in Africa, what it means

Traveling in Africa means many things, the first that comes to mind is to experience so many contradictions. There is a lot of poverty, but there are also huge differences between people and cities.

For example, in Saly, my last stop, more affluence is evident, given by tourism. I just arrived and saw more Westerners in one hour than in the whole of the past week.

There is garbage on the streets here, too, but a lot less. Even there are bins and dumpsters.

There are flower beds in the streets, but also a few cows roaming free as in the featured photo.
